The Disappointed Housewife Nominates “Vacation ◦ by the Pool • Three Variations” for the 2023 Pushcart Prize 🏅
Dear friends and readers,
It’s happened already over a week ago but I’m still pretty excited (and stunned) by this. The Disappointed Housewife has nominated my piece “Vacation ◦ by the Pool • Three Variations” for the 2023 Pushcart Prize.
Funny enough, I submitted three poems to the journal, and this one wasn’t even in my original selection. It replaced another piece I originally planned to send more or less last-minute. But I guess that’s just how these things go …
Now, I’m of course aware of the fact that, generally speaking, a Pushcart nomination is by no means something exceptional. Some people are even arguing about whether one should mention it at all, with opinions going both ways. For me, personally, it’s a sign that I’m doing something right—that someone appreciates my poetry—and that’s definitely given me a boost. 🥰
So, please head over to The Disappointed Housewife, have a look at the other fantastic pieces that have been nominated, and give the wonderful authors some love.
The Pushcart Prize is a “Best of the Small Presses series, published every year since 1976, [and] the most honored literary project in America - including Highest Honors from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
“Since 1976, hundreds of presses and thousands of writers of short stories, poetry and essays have been represented in [their] annual collections.”
Thanks for reading,
Max
… & if you want to spend me a coffee to support my writing, that’s always greatly appreciated. ☕
